The Skeletal System is made up out of 206 bones.The bone has three layers the first layer is periosteum, the there is a hard layer of compact bone, then there is a soft spongy bone and in the middle is a jelly like substance called marrow.
The Skeletal System is used to move your body around using the muscular and the nervous system. The Skeletal system get its commands from the brain and they travels trough the nervous system down the spine.
There are different bones for different jobs like the legs are big and thick so it can hold big weights, the wrists have lots of little bones for us to make precise movements, the there is the big fat breast plate to protect our heart and lungs.
When we are moving our bones the stuff that makes the bone no get chipped is stuff called cartilage. Imagine we our bones are moving if we did not have tendons and ligaments our bones will just fall with gravity and we could dislocate our joints.
The Skeletal System is a very important system for the body to function.
